@mchawk @sophia it hit on the western edge of the Earth, causing the water to spill off of the west coast. The Rockies acted as a dam, saving water for the east coast until it quickly sloshed back into place.
This is why the plains are so flat, and why there's a lot of salt underground in many areas, in addition to deceased dinosaurs. (It fell out of be suspension, along with mud)
